You’re so brave, I would never have the guts to move out of the country… I never would have thought we would live in China… Never say never!
My dad used to say this when we were kids, but my faith has been renewed in this old saying and is stronger than ever. More than not saying the word never, to us this means that anything is possible. After this spring and arriving this summer, we truly believe anything is possible.It has been my life goal to teach abroad for over a decade and here we are. Dreams do come true. Now I am using several cliches here, but when I stop to reflect, I wholeheartedly feel that we have made many “dreams” of ours come true. I just prefer to call them “goals”.
Not only have we made it for both of us to work internationally, we get to enjoy this opportunity with each other. We have worked toward these goals for days, months and years, and now get to enjoy and share the payoff. Applying for visas in China was like a third job. It took over six months and hours of patience sorting through the bureaucratic instructions from both the school and through the Chinese Consulate in Chicago, which we also had the pleasure of visiting.
