Who ever thought we would be hiking on Lantau island in Hong Kong to see the sunrise when we decided to move to China!? Remember the Big Buddha we visited a couple of weeks ago? On this return trip, we hiked past there into the lush hills to reach our glamping tent for the night at a local hostel. After a quick nap, we headed out about 4:30 am for the summit of Lantau Peak. At the top, literally standing in the clouds at 934 meters, it was hard to tell where we were just by looking around. Gazing north, Central Hong Kong was just about to rise and start bustling. To the south, all we could see was lush rainforest-covered hills crashing to the ocean. Looking west was more sea as far as we could see. To the east, the sun would tease us through the wispy clouds as it rose. After descending we decompressed in the waters we stood gazing at hours before, soaking up the island life. You really might be able to have it all, here in Hong Kong.
